Ex Spurs Kasey Keller says don't join Spurs

You would have thought ex players would say good things abut the club and recommend players to move there but that's not the case with our former goalkeeper Kasey Kellar.

DeAndre Yedlin Spurs target

The American wasn't on the Christmas card list before, he certainly won't be on it now. Advising players not to join us is a big no no in my book, especially when his reasoning all all wrong.

Tootenham are making strong efforts and are at the head of the queue to sign Seattle Sounders and USA right-back DeAndre Yedlin. The 21-year-old has attracted interest from Inter Milan, Napoli, Liverpool and Roma as well as quite a few other clubs according to reports in America.

He was part of the MLS All Stars team that beat Bayern Munich 2-1 last night and by all accounts had another excellent game to follow on from his outstanding World Cup exploits.

Tottenham had a good look at him up close when we played Seattle Sounders as part of the pre-season North America tout. The club spent several days in Seattle so both parties were able to look at each other. The Tottenham interest in him has intensified.

Kasey Kellar worked for TV covering the games on the Spurs tour and again for the MLS All Star game after which Goal asked him about Yedlin. Kellar spent 4 years and Spurs and played for Seattle Sounders so has a foot in both camps.

"Spurs is a tricky place to play. They're a team that has a lot of turnover in players. Spurs are a team that has the money, and they are always looking for a bargain, but it's a tough place to go.
"I just want to see young American players play regularly, week in and week out. If that's at Tottenham, great. But if it's not, then it's not the right move. It's hard to develop if you don't play.
"I'm not sure DeAndre would even qualify for a work permit. He's never started a game for the national team, [England] is a tough place to get a work permit.
"My guess would be that if Tottenham is in the race, it would be to sign DeAndre and loan him out somewhere."

Tottenham played 54 games last season, more than any other Premier League side, there are games galore to play but to expect a player to play in that lot is madness. You simply have t have two players for each position and use them both. Yedlin would be guaranteed around 20 games and any injury to Walker would only increase that.

Signing and developing Yedlin would allow Tottenham to move n Kyle Naughton and have a popular player to keep our name active in America. Playing is all well and good but it depends at the level you are playing at and the players you have around you that determines how much you improve and how fast.

USA coach J├╝rgen Klinsmann encourages all his players to go abroad, get some experience and bring it back to the States, simply staying there is not going to be best for his development, the league isn't strong enough.
