Javier Hernández the back-up option to Lukaku

Tottenham have lined up either Javier Hernández or Loïc Rémy as a back-up option to Romelu Lukaku who remains first choice.

Javier Hernández the back-up option to Lukaku

Javier Hernández has been a bit-part striker at Old Trafford and wants away. He is no longer a starter for Mexico and his national boss has told him he won't be if he isn't playing regular football.

Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and the emerging Adnan Januzaj are in front of him in the pecking order and with Louis Van Gaal bringing players in he looks like sinking even lower.

The 26-year-old has sparked interest from Arsenal, Inter Milan and Real Madrid but it is Tottenham who sit in the driving seat.

Whilst Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is the first choice, Javier Hernández and Loïc Rémy are the back-up options. If Daniel Levy can offload strikers, and that is going to be difficult then it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that two new front men may well arrive as Spurs look towards younger striker options.

Just like Roberto Soldado, Hernández has not had much faith shown in him and that has affected his confidence he has revealed.

"This whole year has been very tough. Players need confidence more than anything else, and I've been very short of it.

"Very few people have shown faith in me over this past year."

Soldado after breaking a scoring drought was promptly left on the bench for three games, while Erik Lamela scored in Europe to boost his confidence and again was left on the bench. We really must learn better man management skills.

It may simply be a case of who we can sign first as Loïc Rémy is waiting on Arsenal. If we sign Hernández in the meantime then he may be left high and dry with no top six side to sign for.
