Lukaku or Morata to replace Soldado

Tottenham look to offload misfiring striker and bring in Romelu Lukaku or Alvaro Morata as a replacement.

Lukaku or Morata to replace Soldado

Roberto Soldado arrived at Tottenham as the answer to our goalscoring problems. A proven striker, a quality finisher. However things didn't go according to plan, we simply didn't pass him the ball or create any chances for him.

For any striker starved of chances in a new league with fans to please the pressure mounts and in the end it got to him in a big way. His wife's miscarriage would not have helped his mental state and when he did score we inexplicably left him on the bench.

To say he has been mismanaged would be a massive understatement.

Clubs in Europe are well aware of his struggles and the fact that he is a quality finisher. Champions League finalists are keen on him but won't go higher than £20 million and it's unlikely Daniel Levy will take a £6 million hit after one season. It would be no surprise if he banged in the goals for Tottenham after a summers rest and a complete pre-season.

Italians Inter are also keen to snap up his services but with financial problems in Italy his £80,000 a week wages may pose a problem in addition to Daniel Levy wanting to recoup most of the £26 million he paid for him.

Romelu Lukaku the 21 year-old Chelsea striker who spent last season on loan at Everton or Real Madrid's 21 year-old striker Alvaro Morata who has been starved of game time are seen as ideal long term prospects to replace the misfiring Spaniard who will be 29 in a few days.

Neither striker needs much introduction to followers of the game but Soldado could yet still stay at Spurs if Monaco firm up their interest in Emmanuel Adebayor.

Ade has a history of playing wherever the money is and the payment Man City made to allow him to leave which supplements his £100,000 a week wages has run out. Effectively that means next season he is taking a £40,000 pay cut.

If Monaco are prepared to match his £140,000 wage, despite what he said recently, he nay well leave for another pay day.
