Yellow Belt!

Just wanted to post a family congratulations here for my 7 year old little girl. Very early Saturday morning, she and I went to a huge complex where they were having their testings for the next belt up for Tae Kwon Do. There were so many people there and it was rather chaotic so I wasn't entirely sure how she'd do.


Well, I'm happy to say that she did splendidly and she passed her test. So the next time I take a picture of her, she'll be wearing her yellow belt.

But for now, here she is in her white belt, just after she tested for the yellow.

1. How long have you been blogging?
Since August of 2005. However, Badger Momma was started in March of 2009.


2. What made you start?
I was entering a lot of giveaways and clogging up my personal blog with entries. This blog evolved from that.

3. Who inspired you?
To start blogging? No one.

4. About how many hours a week would you estimate you spend on your blog?
Can we break it down into hours per day? On and off, how bout ALL DAY LONG.

5. What kind of experience or background do you have with writing?
None really.

6. Talk about how you come up with blog topics. Where do you get your ideas?
Life.

7. What or who inspires you and your blog?
Well, NOW, I take inspiration from a lot of different bloggers.

8. Where and/or how do your brainstorming for your blog?
Whenever and where ever.

9. Do you have any blogging rules or guidelines you follow?
Honesty and integrity.

10. Is there anything you will not blog about?
Other than the occasional comment taken poorly from someone that knows me personally, not really. I've learned to take that to a private forum.

11. Do you have any sort of a publishing schedule in terms of day of week or topic?
Only deadlines for reviews and such.

12. How many drafts of potential blog posts do you have right now?

About 15 or so.

13. In what medium do you draft your posts?

Right here on Blogger.

14. How often do you completely scratch or delete drafts or blog post ideas?

Occasionally.

15. If you had to leave your blog in your will to another blogger, who would you choose?

Riiiight. No one would want it. In about 10 years or so, maybe one of my daughters. They'll probably grow up to be as snarky as I am.

16. Are there other blogs that you feel are similar to yours in content, style, or voice?
There are a lot of bloggers that write from their hearts and try not to be so censored about it. Those are probably more akin to mine.

17. Has anything surprised you since you started blogging?

Not really.

18. What are your goals or plans for your blog going forward?

I don't have any specific plans. I'd just like to experience more.

A tiny bit. Not enough to even bother mentioning.

My youngest daughter. Her totem animal is a badger. Hence, Badger Momma.

Well, I have 4-5 currently. However, two aren't being worked on, one is private, one is in the works, and then there's Badger Momma.

More so.

24. Where do you find other bloggers like you?

Just by chatting and leaving post comments.

25. What’s your one wish when it comes to blogging?

More time in the day for it.

Email is Not just for the Technology Savvy Apparently

Over the past couple of weeks, we've been getting some strange emails from someone that writes to us as if she knows us and is carrying on a conversation that she's previously had with us at the mall. Perhaps in an alternate universe.

So after a sequence of these bizarre emails my husband politely replies and tells her that she obviously has a wrong email in her address book for one of her friends. He actually does this again after yet another stray email finds its' way to our inbox. After our repeated attempts at trying to politely (you never know, it might be an 80 year old granny or something) let her know that she keeps sending US emails regarding her latest shopping trips, her hair appointments, and her recent manicure instead of some dear friend of hers named 'Bobby', I finally send her a reply myself.

Me: "Again, you are sending email to the wrong address. There is no Bobby at this email address. Please contact your friend Bobby and verify his/her email address so that you can add his/her correct email address to your email contact list. Again, this is NOT Bobby's email address."

Finally we get a response.

The Strange Email Sender: "My apologies, I've wiped your address off my list and will hence forth write only the other Herrells who, I suppose may or may not be unknown relatives. S"

Okay, I don't know about you but I find that really weird. What? - is this crazy woman doing a blanket email and sending to every Herrell (our last name) at every email account she can think of just in case they happen to be relatives of hers? She sounds very annoyed that we are not willing to keep receiving her emails although we have no frigging clue as to who this person is and we are definitely not a relative of hers.

I think I'll file this under 'fail'.

Blogger's Valentine's Swap

This year I was a participant in the wonderful Blogger's Valentine's Swap hosted by Shannon over at The Mommy-Files! My swap partner for this event was Rebecca over at Lovely Hullabaloo! I was so thrilled when my package arrived yesterday! Just take a look at what this wonderful woman sent me!

Check your Pet!

In light of wide-spread health issues that have recently surfaced in the United States, such as Avian Flu and Swine Flu, we here at Badger Momma think it's crucial to ensure that your pets are in good health as well as the other humans in your family. Make sure they are up-to-date on all vaccinations and take them in to your family's veterinarian for regular check-ups. After all, your pets are family too.


And above all else, you do not want THIS happening to your furry loved ones. I believe there is a reason it's called catatonia. There were some among us who were not amused.
